Description
The Colorado ZR2 Bison’s lightweight but very robust Hot Stamped Boron Steel Skid Plate Package is built on AEV’s Transfer Case Skid Plate. This skid plate may be utilized to cover the transfer case on its own or in conjunction with the ZR2 Bison’s Transmission and Fuel Tank Skid Plates for optimum underbody protection.
This Transfer Case Skid Plate fits Colorado Z71 and ZR2 models from 2015 onwards (excluding crew cab models with a 6.5′ bed). Installation of this skid plate does not necessitate the use of any additional skid plates. It is proudly built in the United States and is E-coated for optimum corrosion protection.
Hot Stamped Boron Steel (HSBS) is a press hardened, ultra-high-strength steel that is most typically utilized in automotive applications for passenger impact protection due to its low weight and high yield strength (approximately 200,000 ksi vs. mild steel at 25,000 ksi). This material was chosen by AEV for the skid plate package on the Colorado ZR2 Bison not only because of its excellent strength-to-weight ratio but also because of its hardness and resistance to gouging.
Please Note: Crew Cab/Long Bed vehicles are not compatible with this item.

By far I feel that this skid plate should have came with the truck. Unlike the spade shovel that will dig you in, this plate protects the transfer case and the ABS system. It fit perfectly, but it was a pain to get the two “J” bolts to clip into the frame. I drilled small holes for the “J” bolts to give them a little more length. This skid plate is more then strong enough to force a jack under. It will not work with the BDS lift kit because the transfer case is rotated down.
