Description
Today’s market has thousands of options for anybody wishing to change the suspension on their truck, from moderate to crazy and everything in between. There are suspensions built for speed, suspensions with showy components built to look nice when stationary, and even rock crawling suspensions that enhance axle movement and wheel travel. There’s nothing wrong with having a lot of options, but how about a well-engineered, well-tuned suspension system for folks who use their vehicle every day in the real world and don’t want to lose payload, ride comfort, or handling simply to accommodate larger tires?
For the 2010+ Ram 2500/3500, AEV’s 3″ DualSport SC/RT Suspension System focuses on improving geometry and unique shock tuning to give the greatest on and off-road performance. This starts at the front end, where HD trucks come standard with dozens of various spring rates depending on engine, wheelbase, and other factors, so giving a generic “gas” or “diesel” spring would have been a big compromise in ride quality and/or load-carrying capability. To accomplish the increased lift height, AEV keeps the factory front coil springs and couples them with 3″ cast aluminum coil spring relocation spacers. This enables AEV to utilize the whole range of factory spring rates and frequencies while still providing the required front-end lift.
AEV’s High Steer Kit, which comprises a bespoke, no-drill forged drag link, AEV track bar, and higher track bar tower corrects steering geometry. By adjusting the front suspension’s roll centre height and bringing the steering geometry back into factory alignment, this device improves steering accuracy and handling significantly. This reduces body roll and bumps steer, two primary factors of the loose or sloppy steering and driver fatigue that many lift kits are known for. The factory radius arms are additionally moved forward 1″ (up to 37″ tyres) or 1.6″ (up to 41″ tyres) for better geometry. This keeps the vehicle’s response to road impacts balanced and factory-like, while also allowing for wider tyres. To suit the revised front axle placement, a billet aluminum front driveshaft spacer is provided.
All DualSport Suspension Systems come with AEV/Bilstein 5100 series shock absorbers. These shocks have a bespoke tune created by Bilstein and AEV engineers specifically for AEV’s DualSport Suspension Systems. The AEV/Bilstein 5100 shocks provide significant low-speed damping thanks to digressive valving. As the vehicle speed increases, the dampening lowers, resulting in a smooth ride over a variety of terrain.
The AEV ProCal SNAP electronic recalibration module connects to your vehicle’s OBDII diagnostic port. It uses the audio equalization on your radio to enter the numerical numbers for your new tyre size, saving you time and money by avoiding a trip to the shop for speedometer calibration. The ProCal SNAP can also adjust TPMS and handle changes in axle gear ratios.v
For additional peace of mind, this DualSport Suspension System is backed by AEV’s Lifetime Warranty!
If running smaller than 20” wheels, 6” or less of backspacing is required. Factory 18” wheels will not clear the top-mount draglink.
